Tanjung Sepat is basically a fishing village located in Selangor on the Straits of Melaka. The major races here are chinese.
The name tanjung sepat is came from a kind of fish that can be found at the area. Sepat is one of the popular food sources that the villagers live there loves. It is normally use to make salted fish and malay's love to use if to cook curry back then.

Tanjung Sepat was first move in by ChaoZhou people from China, they started out fishing and planting coconut as their main sources of living.
Until the early 1940, Japan started invating Malaysia and Tanjung Sepat is one of the area where they gather all the communists to have control over them. There were about 5500 amount of people living at this area in that time. In 1960, Tanjung Sepat reach the high peak in thier economical states by fishing and coconut planting, there were about a total of 300 fishing boats and 390 square feets of coconut plantation.
years after, the fishing and coconut plantation business started to go down. Villagers started to build pig farms around the area and changed coconut plantation business to oil pam plantation. There were still minimum of vilagers fishing nowadays and most of the youngsters move out to the cities to work leaving most of the villagers there are at theirs the seniors citizens age. Youngsters there still will went visits their parents and family from time to time. Tanjung Sepat is the place where people call as their kampung.

Tanjung Sepat now is famous for its foods, scenery, attractions and most importantly there is human touch in that village, you can feel the warm and kind people around, by living there you can get out of the cities hustle and bustle. Tanjung Sepat is now one of the famous spot for a one-day-trip. As people started come here more often, it does'nt seems so quiet in the holidays or sometime weekends, too. So, it is better to visit there during weekdays and definitely not any peak season to feel the rhythm of the village.
The theme that a choose for my coffe table photo book is SPACES AND PEOPLE in tanjung sepat. To understand on how the villagers were living and how they connect with the spaces around them. To let more people understand and feel the differences it is having to life in a village and a cities. To understand their footsteps and how is their lifestyle. What they do during freetime, what is their daily activities flow, how they gain information. Basically is to know how is the villagers living there.
HISTORY OF TANJUNG SEPAT
SPACES AND PEOPLE

MY THEME
Villager living there have a healthy lifestle compare to us city's boys and girls. They sleep early and wake up early in the morning to work, prepare food, house chores and other daily activities they do. They entertainment during free time is usually a bunch of friends visiting one of their house sit down and socialize. They normally will order some beers and some light supper during their talks, comparing to us that only socializes with our phone. They even have an "old man club" that senior citizens spent their time laying at there enjoying the ocean breeze and have some "information sharing session" there. Other than that, fishing in the eveningtill sunset is also one of their favourite interest there.
Some old lady even have their own organic mini garden where they plant their own vegetabls and crops to eat and share with their nighbours or even their child when they come visit them. People at there normally slow down their footsteps to enjoy life but it does'nt mean they are lazy, they will still find stuffs to do to spent their days meaningful.
Tanjung Sepat is not a old folks home as there are still primary and secondary school there. It was one of the historical building where it was build during malaysia's invation for the children living at tajung sepat during the world war 2. Human still need to get education no matter what.

The most common transportation that you will see in tanjung sepat is non other than less motorsycles and bicycles. As Tanjung Sepat route system was built centuries ago, the road was not prepared for cars and definitely not buses. The road there were narrow. Although there are still cars going here and there in the village but most of the villagers there don't use cars there, because it is troublesome. If there are driving a car there, they must be extra careful and you ay get scatches here and there. Car is normally for the villagers to travel somewhere furthur while bikes are for travelling in that area.
